News from Susan Gill - November 2009

We send many congratulations to Board member Susan Gill, first on her recent engagement and secondly on the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) from Nottingham Trent University in:
Tumour Chemo Sensitivity Assays: An Investigation into the Susceptibility of Cells to Chemotherapeutics.
Her graduation was at the end of November. All the more credit as it took 7 years part time whilst in full employment working for the Biotechnology Company, Lonza BioScience.

 50th Anniversary of Niko Nestor- 9th Sept 2009

The Channel Swimming Association Ltd has pleasure in celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Yugoslavia's first Channel swimmer.  This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the first swim by Yugoslavia's Niko Nestor.  Niko became the first swimmer from behind the Iron Curtain to successfully swim the Channel with the Channel Swimming Association.

 60th Anniversary of Philip Mickman of Ossett - 24th August 2009

The Channel Swimming Association Ltd has pleasure in celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of its first post war swim.  This year marks the 60th Anniversary of 18 year old Philip Mickman's swim from France to England.  Philip became the first post war swimmer to successfully swim the Channel with the Channel Swimming Association.  He became the youngest person ever to conquer the Channel. His time of 23 hours 48 minutes is still stands as the longest France to England swim.

 50th Anniversary of Alfredo Camarero- 27th August 2009

The Channel Swimming Association Ltd has pleasure in celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Argentina's 1959 Butlin's International race winner.  This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Alfredo Camarero's swim.  Alfredo became the first swimmer from Argentina to successfully swim the Channel with the Channel Swimming Association.

 50th Anniversary of Miguel Gonzalez Lopez- 9th Sept 2009

The Channel Swimming Association Ltd has pleasure in celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Mexico's second Channel swimmer.  This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the swim by Mexico's Miguel Gonzalez Lopez.  Miguel became the second swimmer from Mexico to successfully swim the Channel with the Channel Swimming Association.  We are delighted that his home town,  Monterray, the City of the Mountains, in Mexico is celebrating this great achievement.
